Please be advised some regions of South Africa have a slight different cycle to this, this is taken from the Western Cape & Northern Cape. Even some areas in the Northern Cape are slightly different so make sure these match your areas.

In April very early up to about the 12th it’s still a social time, but after this towards the end of April it has a cycle change to a more aggressive period for more dominant dogs (Jackal). So, a challenge call in late April will be good. And MAY!!!! Now we are really hotting up!!! In MAY is an extremely aggressive period for a dog, so using a challenge in his area will make him crazy and he will look for you. In May you will normally shoot more males.

This is an example of a cycle; your areas may differ slightly. For example in May in Sutherland Jackals are pairing up and mating, but in Bethlehem the little ones are already walking around! This gives a very good example of a cycle change.
